Different display per publisher.

OdinBox News is ad-supported and commercial. Not every publisher's RSS terms welcome that, so we tailor card display per source. This page documents who falls into which bucket — and why.

Tiers and display rules

🟢 OPENOpen / public-domain-ish
14 (22%)

BBC, Guardian, Al Jazeera, NPR — outlets that publish RSS specifically for syndication. Full display: headline + attribution + our AI summary.

🔵 ATTRIBUTIONStandard — attribution-with-link
27 (42%)

The default tier. RSS publication is itself an opt-in to indexing; headline aggregation with attribution + link-back is industry-norm. Our AI summary (generated from the headline alone, not the body) is a separate transformative work — shown alongside.

🟡 TITLE-ONLYHeadline + link only
21 (32%)

Outlets whose ToS restrict commercial reuse. We publish their headline + outbound link only — no AI summary on cards or listings. We act purely as a signpost driving traffic to the source. Most Korean major newspapers + broadcasters live here.

Examples연합뉴스 · 연합뉴스 경제 · 연합뉴스 국제 · 한겨레 · 한겨레 경제 · 한겨레 국제 · 경향신문 · 전자신문

🔴 PAIDPaid syndication only
3 (5%)

Reuters, AP, AFP, Bloomberg — wires that license content commercially. We render headline + link only and treat the source as a candidate for auto-deactivation. Reactivated only with a paid contract; default for free-tier operation is conservative.

Why we think this is defensible

  • 1Article bodies never stored. Only headline + URL hit our DB. The AI summary is generated from the headline alone — a transformative second-layer work, not an excerpt.
  • 2RSS = public-by-design. Korea's 2023 unfair competition statute explicitly excludes "publicly disclosed information"; publishing an RSS feed is itself an implicit syndication opt-in.
  • 3Korean precedent. Body + site-structure copying is unfair competition (잡코리아 v. 사람인, 야놀자 v. 여기어때) — but headline + link aggregation falls under deep-linking and has multiple favorable rulings.
  • 4Naver / Daum / Google News do the same. Major aggregators sometimes negotiate contracts with publishers, but no single law mandates it for everyone.
  • 5We err on the conservative side. We're a small site with no interest in litigation. The 4-tier classification is our best effort to honor each publisher's stated stance.

For publishers
